Who are the Dice Dragons?

Every hoard needs a keeper.

At Dice Dragons, our dice are guarded, judged, stolen, argued over, approved, rejected, and occasionally sat on by a very opinionated group of dragons.

Bombastic, theatrical, competitive, and proud, Ethelred treats the tabletop like an arena. He loves heavy metal dice, sharp-edged dice sets, red dice, and anything that makes a properly intimidating sound when it's rolled.

He is the dragon of frontline fighters, damage dealers, optimisers, barbarians with a plan, paladins with main-character energy, and anyone who thinks "if it can crit, it should crit".

Ethelred is never subtle.

Cryptic, playful, otherworldly, and comforting, Amethystra is the dragon of luck, probability, superstition, rituals, unique treasures, and tiny magical details. She speaks in half-truths, collects comfort sets, and believes even the most ordinary dice can become meaningful if you use them at the right moment.

She loves unusual shapes, novelty dice, purple dice, iridescent colours, cosmic themes, soft colours, readable numbers, liquid core dice, and dice that feel strange in a way you cannot quite explain.

Amethystra is for players who love wild magic, sorcerers, psionics, quirky bards, pre-session rituals, shared table traditions, and asking what the inn serves for breakfast.

Azuryx

The Dragon of Rules, Balance, and Being Technically Correct

Azuryx has read the rules.

All of them.

Precise, logical, superior, and irritatingly useful, Azuryx is the dragon of fairness, balance, rules explanations, and beautifully constructed plans. He enjoys rules as puzzles, dice as probability tools, and strategies that unfold three turns before anyone else understands what is happening.

Yes, Azuryx can be a little condescending.

Yes, Azuryx is usually correct.

No, this does not make it less annoying.

He favours precision dice, balanced sets, cool tones, blue dice, lightning colours, and anything tested for fairness. To Azuryx, dice should not merely look good. They should behave.

Umbrask expects the worst.

This is why Umbrask is rarely surprised.

Dry, sarcastic, pragmatic, and quietly delighted by disaster, Umbrask is the dragon of dark fantasy, gritty systems, bad luck, hard choices, and consequences that arrive exactly when everyone hoped they would not.

He does not believe every story needs a happy ending. He does believe every failed roll deserves a moment of appreciation.

Umbrask favours black dice, dark colours, muted tones, minimalist fonts, and sets that feel serious. He is the dragon for rogues, warlocks, survivalists, OSR players, grim campaign lovers, and anyone who packs rope because they know the GM too well.

Bestial, fierce, territorial, and deeply pack-bonded, Glacielle treats the table like a hunting ground and the party like her people. She may steal your dice, hoard your potions, and ignore the plan entirely, but she will also protect new players, quieter voices, and anyone who looks like they are about to be eaten by the rules.

She is the dragon of instinctive play, beginner-friendly choices, easy-read dice, and learning by doing. Glacielle does not care whether the plan is elegant. She cares whether it works.

Smooth-talking, polite, patient, and dangerously clever, Verdantia is the dragon of strategy, roleplay, political intrigue, and long-term campaign thinking. She enjoys subtle victories, careful wording, and watching everyone else realise far too late that the trap was conversational.

Verdantia favours elegant, readable dice: green dice, translucent, marbled, refined, and quietly impressive. To her, dice are not weapons. They are tools. Preferably tools she does not need to use, because the best victory is one achieved before the roll is ever made.
